Respect All, Fear None

Back to some pages for a few days.  I need to do some catching up again.

Materials:
Paper: My Minds Eye "So Sophie" line
     Scenic Route
Basic Grey "origins"
Eyelets: Making Memories
Pazzles die cut star
Stickers: Sassafrass, EK Success and Cosmo Cricket

I loved the idea of a big star for this page and what better way to achieve that look than getting a custom cut from the PAZZLES machine at Picture This in Eau Claire, Wisconsin?  Pick your paper, pick your design (or words) and they do the rest...in this case,  I did the work, but you know what I mean...lol.  This photo is from a run back in October of 2009, so I do have a bit of catching up to do!!

In the mean time.....
Have a Happy New Year
stay safe and I'll see you at the store

Monochromatic

Purple on purple.

MAterials:
     Paper: WorldWin cardstock
Stamp: HERO ARTS
Ink" Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Black Soot" and Versa "Heliotrope"
Pop-dots

A simple card using many stamps again.  You can just barely make out the round stamp in the background of this one, just a shadow of an image.  You can see it better on the real life sample on display at PICTURE THIS in EAU CLAIRE, WI.

Special Thanks

MY little Mona Lisa

Materials:
     Paper: Paper Cut Cardstock
Stamps: HERO ARTS
String
Punch: EkSuccess
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress ink: "Walnut Stain" and "Vintage Photo"

There are three stamps at play here, the word background, the Mona Lisa and the sentiment stamp.  Simply using the brown shades for the whole thing make it easy to put together.

Brown and Cream

Everyone loves brown and cream....actually this is more of a burnt umber color, but it works.

Materials:
     Paper: Flair patterned paper
     Paper Cut cardstock
Stamp: HERO ARTS
Bling: Kaiser Craft
Ribbon: May Arts
Ink" Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Rusty Hinge"
Pop-dots

I found this patterned paper that went well with the pattern on this stamp.  Matched up my colors and even found a ribbon that was just the right shade of umber as well.  All found at Picture This in Eau Claire, Wisconsin of course.! 715-830-9555

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Hope you are taking some time out from your busy schedule to enjoy a cup of cheer with family and friends today, I know I am.

I did a quick card with some cute papers from the Reminisce, GCD and the We R lines, plus my ever favorite JUST RITE stamps.  The chipboard button is from KI and the ribbon is a piece from my stash that I used to help a certain little girl make doll dresses with a few months ago....lol......I think she will recognize it when she sees it.

Happy Happy Christmas, Happy Holidays
and here is to a bright and shiny New Year.

Last minute gift giving?

Actually, it was my plan all along.....gift cards for the teens and some service people I know.  I needed a decorative way to present a gift card and I found this fun fold on the net.  I think a class on this might be fun...Valentines Day is just a few weeks away :)  I can see using this idea over and over and over!

Everything I used for this project is product I have had in my stash for QUITE a while.  And I do mean, a while....The only thing available for purchase at PICTURE THIS in Eau Claire , WI is the bling, the Spellbinders dies, the Cuttlebug Chrysanthemum die, the cardstocks and the sheer ribbon.  I rather enjoyed using up some of the papers I coveted and hoarded when I bought them.  Time to move on and make room for the new stuff :)

Materials:
Paper: Bo-Bunny, Scenic Route and Daisy Bucket
     WorldWin cardstock
Stickers: Reminisce Christmas 2008, Die Cuts With A View, and American Crafts
Ribbon: May Arts Sheer and Pebbles Inc
Bling: HERO ARTS
Spellbinders: Labels 10 and One, Standard Circle Die and Fancy Tags
Cuttlebug: Chrysanthemum quilling die

So, a back story about the papers....I can remember buying each and every one of them and thinking I had such plans for the paper at the time.  I love the vintage look of the first one and the crazy circles in the second, which could be used for other projects, not just Christmas.  The last one was a leftover sheet from the wreath I made back maybe 2 or 3 years ago.  Pinks and greens were the hot Christmas colors that year.  It's fun going through the old papers just to see what I bought and remember what Ideas I might have had for them.

12 Tags redo

I loved doing the 12 tags of Christmas from Tim Holtz at the beginning of the month, but I wanted to take all that knowledge and turn it into a card.  So this is a card version of the tag from this day that I did.

Materials:
Paper: My Mind's Eye "Lost and Found"
Sizzix: Rosette die
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Vintage Photo"
Brads: Spare Parts
Ribbon May Arts
Buttons: Basic Grey
Tulle: from my stash
Tag: Crate Paper
Stamp: Stampers Anonymous "Odds and Ends"

Taking basic idea from the tag of the day I just made it wider and modified just a couple things to work for a card front.

Sunshine on a cloudy day

These papers from My Little Shoebox are so cheery it's hard to resist making a fun card with them.

Materials:
     Paper: My Little Shoebox
     WorldWin cardstock
Stickles: Yellow, Star Dust  and Light Blue
Sizzix Alterations "On the Fence" die and "Rosette" die
Stamp: Stampers Anonymous
Spellbinders "Large Scallop Border Die"
Ink:Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Black Soot"

I saw the little houses on this sheet of paper and thought they would make nice little accents to a card front.  I hand trimmed it out and added some coordination paper from the backs of a couple sheets...love double sided paper!  The fence from the Sizzix set is just the perfect height for the house.  It would make a great house warming or welcome to the neighborhood card.

Wooden you love this?

Lol....Ok, I get tired of coming up with titles for these things...forgive me.

Materials:
Paper: My Mind's Eye patterned paper
     WorldWin cardstock
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Walnut Stain"
Brads: Making Memories
Stamp: HERO ARTS
Spellbinders "Lacey Circle"
Ribbon: May Arts

We were busy making samples for the HERO ARTS Trunk Show we did back on Dec 10 and 11, so these samples have been done for a while, but I am just now getting them posted.  We had to keep them under wraps until the show.....but by then I had done so many other cards and things.  What a problem to have huh?

Simple card, stamp out your image on paper, I matched up the circle with my Lacey Circle...perfect...and from there I dressed it up with brads and ribbon. Easy Peasy.

birthday greetings

Just because it's almost Christmas doesn't mean other people aren't having birthday's.

Materials:
     Paper: WorldWin cardstock
     My Mind's Eye patterned paper
Spellbinders STAR
Ribbon: May Arts
Stamp: JUST Rite
Ink: Tim Holtz Dsitress Ink "Faded Denim" and "Broken China"

In keeping with the star theme from the paper I used the star die from Spellbinders to make the base for the "Happy Birthday".

Ribbon flower

The colors in this are a lot closer to matching in the real world than they look in this photo.  HArd to get a good shot with the lighting I was having. The flower looks REALLY dark purple compared to the background.

Materials:
     Paper: WeR Memory Keepers
     World Win cardstock
Stamp: JUST Rite
Ink Tim Holtz Distress Ink: "Dusty Concord"
Bling: HERO ARTS
Spellbinders Standard Circle Large
Punch "Infinite Loop"
Ribbon: May Arts
Brad: BAZZILL

The card is pretty basic but the ribbon is the trick.  I used a bit of the leftover ribbon to create a fabric covered brad to finish off the middle.

Retro Silhouette

The new HERO ARTS stamps for 2011 have some very cool images you'll have to come in  and see.

Materials:
Paper: Basic Grey "Origins" (double sided)
     WorldWin cardstock
Punch: Martha Stewart "Infinite Loop"
Cuttlebug: Quilling Set "chrysanthemum"
Spellbinders: Fancy Lables and Labels 5
Stamp: Stampers Anonymous "Odd and End"
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Rusty Hinge" and "Black Soot"
Bling: HERO ARTS

The colors in this paper reminded me of the 70's so I went with the silhouette of the lady in brown to match the background color.  The Infinite Loop punch is a new favorite toy along with my latest quilling flower die.  You'll see quite a bit more with these coming up.

Materials:
     Paper: Paper Cut cardstock
     My Mind's Eye "LUSH"
Stamp: JUST Rite
Spellbinders: Fancy Labels
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Black Soot"

Couldn't be easier....but the velvet flocking on the dots is what makes it.

Ribbon: May Arts
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink: "Walnut Stain"

Pretty simple card actually.  The panel was cut from the patterned paper and backed with a stripe to match.  A little ribbon and a cute tag, you're done!

12 tags.....last one....Day 12

The last of the lot. The 12 Days went by so fast!   We had a lovely snowstorm in the middle of the fun, internet issues on day 1....but we survived and I have 12 tags to prove it.

Find the version of the above HERE.  The last one was a simple one and I didn't have all those materials, so I made do with what I had...I can work outside the box.

Materials:
     Paper: WorldWin cardstock
Sizzix Alterations die "Bird Cage" and "Ticket"
Tissue Tape
Ribbon: Melissa Frances
Stamp: Stampers Anonymous "odds and ends" and "Christmas"
Brads: Spare Parts
Flower and bells from my stash
Ribbon: May Arts
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink: "Black Soot", "Barn Door", "Vintage Photo" and "Peeled Paint"

Ok, so this tag ended up having almost nothing at all similar to the original Day 12 tag...but, like I said, I made do with what was available to me.  I used some techniques that T!M told us about along the journey over the last 12 days and used the materials at my disposal.  I think it turned out all right.  I did finally get my re-inker colors in , so that technique was fun to try.  I actually ended up being able to make over 50 of the same stamped image from the custom ink pad that I created for the Christmas ticket stamp.  (T!M said you could make 30, so I prepared). I quit at 50 because I was just tired of stamping....hehe.  I also custom colored my crocheted ribbon too, the off white was too bright for this.

Everything but the bells and fabric flowers are available at PICTURE THIS in Eau Claire, Wisconsin where I work and the real life samples are on display.

12 Tags...Day 11

Tim is done...but I am still on Day 11......my last will post tomorrow and then I will be back to our regularly scheduled crafting....because BABY, it's COLD outside!!
Here is the version I am going off of, and above is my version.

Materials:
     Paper: 7Gypsies
Sizzix Alterations "Pine Tree" die
Stamp: Stampendous
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress ink: "Black Soot", "Broken China", "Tumbled Glass" and "Chipped Sapphire"
Stickles: Rock Candy
Philosophy Tags
Twill Ribbon and string
Embossing powder
Stamp: Stampers Anonymous "odds and ends"
White Dabber Paint

I am not as excited about this one, mainly because my inking was too dark for the tree in the foreground.  Stamping and embossing over the printed paper to give a release look was fun, but I will have to tone down my coloring.  Since I spent most of the day shoveling out from the Saturday storm, I didn't have time to go back a re-do it.  I had done it twice already...this is the best of two as it is.  ANYWAY.....check out the T!M blog for directions on how to do some of this stuff or stop by PICTURE THIS in EAU CLAIRE, WISCONSIN to get some supplies and they can talk you through a few techniques.

12 Tags ...Day 10

Another great tag.....and a great technique.  Check out the T!M tag here and then see what I did differently.

Materials:
     Tim Holtz Washers
Tim Holtz Rickety House
Cuttlebug embossing folder
Tim Holtz Muse Tokens
Lil' Davis: key's and holly rain dots
Ribbon: May Arts
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Stormy Sky", "Broken China", "Tumbled Glass" and "Vintage Photo"
White Dabber paint

I don't have the snowman he used in the Day 10 tag, but Picture This in Eau Claire, Wisconsin has it.  I used the house again, which worked just fine.  A piece of acetate or packaging from some purchased goodies will work for creating the snowy scene that goes over the top of everything.

12 Tags of Christmas Day 9

Vintage....you knew I would be right there with that one  And he used the rosette!!
Here is his version.....and this is what I used for mine.

Materials:
Paper: My Mind's Eye "Lost and Found"
     Pink Paislee "Santas"
Sizzix: Rosette die
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Vintage Photo"
Brads: Spare Parts
Ribbon (from my personal stash)
Letters:  Used my Cuttlebug letter dies
Chipboard button: Graphic45

Tim's tag was awesome for Day 9, but I don't have that stamp, and I have used the stamps I felt might have a similar effect.....so I went easy......printed paper!  I had this newsprint paper from My Mind's Eye that is just right for this look.  LOVE IT!  I also took an old charm and took out the middle, punched out a Santa from the Pink Paislee paper and put it in the middle with a little Glossy Accents.  Some more ribbon and tulle and you complete the tag with little effort.  I am all about getting messy when needed (trust me, my fingers are a mess right now) but why when there is perfectly good paper out there to play with.

Find the real life tags on display at Picture This in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, 6021 Arndt Lane, 54701. There is a whole corner dedicated to all things TIM....along with a few other goodies we use with his fun tools and trinkets.  If you need it, want it, or just gotta have it.....they probably have it or can order it in.....just stop by and check it out.

12 Days...Day 8

One more tag from the Master!  Here is the T!M version to check out.

Materials:
Clock face from Tim Holtz clocks
Tim Holtz Distress Inks: "Black Soot", "Peeled Paint", "Vintage Photo", "Weathered Wood", "Stormy Sky" and "Walnut Stain"
Sizzix Alterations Pine Tree die and Up on the Rooftop die
Tissue Tape (Tim Holtz)
DYMO tape
May Arts Ribbon
Stamps: Stampers Anonymous sets
Wire
Mini Mister

This one was fun!  I don't have the masks he used in the technique, but I made my own with the masking paper from PICTURE THIS in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.  I did a little "Whooville" type tree with my little houses and giant tree instead of the santa and reindeer.....how's that for thinking out side the box? I also used a little tissue tape behind the houses because my tree stump ended in a weird spot and looked like it was growing out of a house.  If you look close at the bottom left of the tree you can see a little santa image peeking out.  This one looks better in real life, so check it and the rest of the collection out when you stop by the store to pick up your last minute project finishing materials.  Picture This is open 7 days a week except for holidays.

12 tags...Day 7

Creative and fun!  I really liked this tag technique. Check out T!M's version here and then see what I did differently.

Materials:
Chipboard letters: Basic Grey
Stamp: Stampers Anonymous
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Black Soot", "Vintage Photo", "Walnut Stain:, "Crushed Olive", "Barn Door" and "Peeled Paint"
Spellbinders: Doodle Parts die
Sizzix Alterations die "Tattered Flower"
Sizzix Alterations folder "Woodgrain"
Ribbon: May Arts
Stickles "Rock Candy"
Self-Adhesive Cotton Paper
Grunge Paper (Tim Holtz)
Color Wash "Red Pepper"
Glimmer Mist "Lily Pad"
Beads

This was tons of fun to try.  Who knew Rock Candy could be so handy??  Check out the T!M blog for the technique.   I will have to give this one a try on other applications.

I happened to have a few sheets of the cotton paper laying around so this was "go" tag from the minute I saw it.  I changed the word he used because i had different letters, but it works with the technique he did.  I hand cut the leaves on this one because I don't own the "Tattered Leaf" die for the leaves on the poinsettia....but this works too.

12 Tags...Day 6

My version of the Day 6 tag at the Tim Holtz blog

Materials:
Stamp: Stampers Anonymous
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Walnut Stain", "Weathered Wood", "Pine Needles" and "Vintage Photo"
Alterations Dies (Sizzix) "Pine Tree" and "Picket Fence"
Tissue Tape (Tim Holtz)
White Dabber Paint
Salvage Stickers "Seasonal"
Button: Graphic45
Ribbon: May Arts
Stickles "Rock Candy"

Check out T!M's version of this tag.  I made a few "alterations" because I didn't have any of the materials he used this time.  I like my version though.  I do intend to try the stamping on an embossing folder some time though....I have been inking my embossing folders for a long time, but never thought of stamping on it too.  Clever!

12 Tags of Christmas Day 5

Another day, another tag. Here is T!M's version

Materials:
   Paper: WorldWin cardstock
Sandlion poinsettia sticker
Stamp: Stampers Anonymous and Stampendous
Ribbon: May Arts
Tim Holtz Distress Ink: "Black Soot", "Fired Brick", "Barn Door" and "Aged Mahogany"
Stickles: Peeled Paint and Christmas Red
Paint Dauber
Spellbinders "Labels 8"

Day 5 of the Tim Holtz tags.  I didn't have the same santa stamp, so I improvised and I had a music note stamp instead of the patterned paper.  Lots of differences in this one.

12 Tags of Christmas Day 4

Love this one....each day is a gift of creativity when I log into my Blogger account and check out the T!M pages......ahh bliss.

 Materials:
     Paper: Graphic45 "On the Boardwalk"
Gems: Prima (from my stash)
Pearls: from my stash
Ribbon: May Arts
Alcohol Ink: Stream
Tim Holtz Ideaology "Fragments"
Tim Holtz "Adage Tags"
Tim Holtz "Baubles Pearls"
Archival Black Ink
Staples

I didn't have the paper that TIM used on his Day 4 tag, but I had this gorgeous paper from Graphic45 instead...works for me!   Check out the techniques for the fragment on T!M's blog here.   i also used "fragments" in stead of "Facets" for my inked charm on the top.  Make it work with what you have right?

I used some goodies from my stash of things I have gotten from past classes I have taken with some great designers.  The pearls are from the class I did this summer with Donna Downey.....and the Baubles are from my Make & Take with T!M Holtz in Chicago.  Picture This in Eau Claire, Wisconsin has all the materials shown above except the pearl swirl  (they have similar ones) and the pearl string on the bottom edge.

12 Tags...day 3

I loved this one.  Made a few modifications, but just a couple

Materials:
Tissue Tape
Bird Cage Die from Sizzix Alterations
Punch: Martha Stewart twig
Ribbon: May Arts
Seasonal Salvage Stickers
Tim Holtz pins and hardware.
Stamp: Stampers Anonymous
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Black Soot", "Peeled Paint", "Forrest Moss", and "Walnut Stain"
Alcohol Ink: Currant
White Dabber Paint
Paper: Paper Cut (for tag and twigs)
Mini Mister

This one was a bit more fun for me.  I decided to use the twig punch for my "moss" by crunching up the green twigs and glueing them under the bird.  Simple.  The TISSUE flower was a bit harder as the tape is sticky but not very sticky.  Easy to use in some applications (and I love this stuff) but not for this flower, in my opinion!  I would go with a punch flower with the Alterations "Tattered Flower" die and some old paper instead...but, I had to give it a try.

12 Tags of Christmas day 2

As promised....the day 2 tag....with my modifications.

Materials:
     Paper: Paper Cut cardstock
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Inks "Weathered Wood", "Stormy Sky", "Fired Brick", Vintage Photo", Peeled Paint", "Forrest Moss", and "Pumice Stone"
Stamps: Stampers Anonymous, Stampendous and Hampton Arts
Ribbon: Creative Imaginations
Facets from the TIM collection
Embossing powder

I went vertical with my version and since I do not have all the reinker colors I could not make the "custom pad" that he did for his day 2 tag.  So I did what I could with what I had and it isn't as bright, but it works.  I also did not have the same stamp....but then, we are supposed to try different things with this idea...after all, we need to think outside the box.  For the most part, I did have everything.

The Twelve Tags of Christmas

are here!

Finally, I have internet, a camera and the computer all at once!!

Ok, so all the best intentions to have a tag a day like Tim Holtz is doing on his blog came and went with my sporadic internet service....the phone company's timing was incredibly bad!  So, I WILL have a tag a day, just a few days behind the "Tim" postings. I will show my version of his tag each day. Check his version out here.

Materials:
Grunge Board
Ribbon: May Arts
Charm: from my stash
Ink Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Vintage Photo" and "Fired Brick" for the house and "Stormy Sky" and "Broken China" for the background, "Black Soot",  "Peeled Paint" and "Barn Door" for the stamped Christmas tag
Tag: Made with the Tim Holtz Tag maker die from SIZZIX
Rickety House and Fence also are Tim Holtz dies from SIZZIX
SIZZIX embossing folders
Stamp: Stampers Anonymous "Odds and Ends"
Glossy Accents
Glitter

So, I went a little off direction with my version, but why be normal right?  If you  aren't following the Tim Tags, you won't know what I did differently.  But for those of you who do follow.....this is what is different.  I used the "brick" embossing folder because I liked the idea of the red brick with the  Christmas theme.  I did love his idea with the strips and "notebook" embosser, but...the red was calling me.  My background is a bit different because I used a different paper for my tag.....won't be using that from now on though......

....instead of using the large tree (or even the "Tim" tree.....which I also own) I used a small poinsettia leaf for the "bushes" outside.  I didn't want to cover up all my hard work on the snow and brick...lol.

So, that is tag one from Day 1.....and more to come.  My version anyway :)

A season of fun

I found this crazy striped paper on the back of the Nook & Pantry line from Basic Grey and thought it would make an interesting Christmas card background.

Materials:
     Paper: WorldWin cardstock
Basic Grey Nook & Pantry line
Bling: Kaiser Craft
Stamp: JUST Rite
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Barn Door"
Spellbinders: Lacey Circles and Standard Circle small and large
Ribbon: May Arts

A pretty easy card again.  I liked this paper and found some goodies to go with it.  This lime green ribbon over the red toned down the brightness of the green ribbon.

A little decorating

Today is the beginning of the 12 days of Christmas at several websites....and I am going to try joining in the fun too.

For my DAY 1 project I did this:

Easy Peasy and I found my inspiration at this site for my project for today. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to make one...but my way.  Plus I had a bunch of those little battery operated candles.  Battery operated is important in this project.....real candles would be a problem!

Materials:
Paper: Paper Cut cardstock and metallic cardstock
     Vellum
Brads: Making Memories
Spellbinders: Snowflake die

This is so simple you can make several for you mantel or even your porch.  It is a variation of the luminaries I remember from my time in New Mexico.  My finished project measures 5x6 with a depth of about 2 inches at the widest point.  The great part is that you  only have to attach the ends and not worry about leaving room for the candle because it curves around it when you put it in the middle.

I used the plain cardstock for the main part of the luminary and the metallics for the binding edge.  I used my BEACON'S 3 in 1 glue for the paper adhesion (vellum to paper).  The brads on the edging are used to reenforce the seem on the edge, but you could get away with just glueing it to and adding some bling gems or pearls.  I might have to try this with some patterned paper too.  Seriously, this only took 20 minutes to put together....and part of that time was figuring out how big to make it to fit the snowflake die into the middle.
