Just because

Just because I love this technique and ink color!!

Materials:
     Paper: World Win cardstock
     Glossy Cardstock: paper Cut
Nestabilities: Square and Fancy Labels
Cuttlebug: "Oriental Weave set" and "Vintage Corners"
Stamp: JustRite "Custom Cardmaking Set"
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Broken China"
Brads: Making Memories

I think I did this technique a little while ago...basically you take a piece of wax paper, put it through the CUTTLEBUG then take a piece of Glossy cardstock (5 1/2 X8 1/2")  fold it in half glossy sides facing each other, put the embossed wax paper between the folds and then put a hot iron to it.  Just run over it for a few seconds and remove.  Pull out the wax paper and grab a sponge with some ink on it and start rubbing....give it a good rub too, it takes more elbow grease then you might think on a piece of glossy paper. Once you have it covered with the ink you can trim it to fit your card front or fold it so the pretty parts are on the outside.  It looks like a batik style when you are all done.  Decorate the front with fun embellishments.  I got a few of my friends excited about this technique too....who knew you could have so much fun with the iron!!

Hugs & Kisses

One more of the fun folders in the "Love's in the Air" collection.  I just think these hearts are so cute.

Materials:
     Paper: WorldWin cardstock
Nestabilities: Labels 5
Cuttlebug: "Love's in the Air" collection
Ribbon: May Arts
Stamp: Just Rite "Loving Thoughts" set
ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Black Soot"

I started with the dark pink card layer and cut away the middle using a Nestie.  I then used a piece of white cardstock and cut away the middle using the next size down of the Nestie Labels 5 set.  For the top I used a light pink piece, cut away the size above the one on the card base, ran it through the Cuttlebug and then adhered to the card.  I adhered the white piece to  the back of the inside front of the card.  This gives you the three layer effect.  When I closed the card I lined up the stamp so it was in the center when the card is closed.  I also frayed the end of the ribbon for a different look.

Love's in the Air

More fun with the "Love's in the Air" folder set from Provo Craft.

Materials:
     Paper: Paper Cut "Jute" cardstock
     SCRAPWorks "Florabella Line" (pink background)
NESTABILITIES: Standard Circle and Scallop Circle
Brads: Making Memories
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Black Soot" and "Vintage Photo"
Stamps: JUST Rite "Loving Sentiments" and "Decorative Borders"
Film Strip Ribbon: Tim Holtz
Staples: Office Depot

After putting my paper through the Cuttlebug I tore off what I needed for this card and inked up the raised images to give them a little more definition.  I attached my background piece to the card base and then adhered the embossed piece so that part of the pink showed around the outer edges.  The rest is just layering.

Beach blanket Bingo

More TIM...and my new TIM folders.  I have a hard time deciding what to play with first when everything comes in during the same week.    It's just not fair!!  What is a girl to do?  So today, it is the Bingo folder, tomorrow, who knows, you'll just have to check back and see!!

Materials:
     Paper: WorldWin cardstock
FlowerS: Prima
Tim Holtz for Sizzix "Bingo" embossing folder
Nestabilities: Fancy Labels
Stamp: Just Rite
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress ink: "Old Paper", "Worn Lipstick", "Pumice Stone" and "Tattered Rose"
Pop-dots

I love my Cuttlebug..and I love the Timmy goodies.  What a great combination!  I also got out some of my Prima goodies and all my favorite Tim Holtz inks.  Tearing a hole in the middle was a little something I wanted to try and it was fun.  I love the result.  The rubbing technique on the embossed folder is what I tried with the other folder in this set and I like the different colors.

Hello girlfriend

Materials:
     Paper: WorldWin  cardstock
                Paper Cut cardstock
                My Mind's Eye
Adage Tags and Film Strip Ribbon from Tim Holtz
Stamp: HERO ARTS
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Rusty Hinge", "Vintage Photo", "Peeled Paint",  "Forest Moss", "Bundled Sage" and "Pumice Stone".
Embossing Folder: Tim Holtz for Sizzix "Bingo & Patchwork Set"
Staples
Ribbon: Basic Grey ribbon set
Pop-dots

I finally have my hands on a Tim Holtz embossing folder.....yay!!  I have been W A I T I N G forever for this one to arrive!!  I embossed this on a random scrap piece of paper to see how it embossed and then could not decide what color I wanted to rub on it...so I tried a little here and then a little there and then a little more, until I had all those colors on there...then I decided that "that was it"...all the colors were perfect together.  Sometimes the "scratch" piece turns out to be the masterpiece.  This was a lot of fun trying.

Make & Take Thursday's

This was our Make & Take for Thursday May 20th.  Everyone got to do the fishy card on the right or could step it up to the next level for $1.  The $1 add on included the acetate window, more fish, bling and a popped-up sentiment.

Materials:
Paper: My Mind's Eye patterned papers
                WorldWin cardstock
Pop-dots
Cuttlebug "Fish" die and "Bubbles" embossing folder
Nestabilities: Inverted Circle and Label Trio

Stamp: A*Muse
Ink" Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Black Soot"

This card was a fun technique to try with the multiple layers of the inverted circle.  Plus the fun little fishies make the whole process a treat!  This could be repeated with flowers or other shapes for a different look.

Check out our Make & Take Thursday's every Thursday from 11am to 1pm

The moment may be temporary...

GRADUATION!  I have sooooo many graduations this year.  I guess this happens as your oldest child gets closer to graduation himself.  I think I will lock myself in my room for a couple of years and become a hermit..then I won't know so many people and they won't need cards from me.....hmmm, I could get a lot of crafting done, but I would miss my pals at the store.  You are all stuck with me!

Materials:
     WorldWin cardstock
     Stampin' Station patterned paper
Stamp: Cloud9 Memory set
            Stampers Anonymous " Nature's Discovery"
Spellbinders "Labels 8"
Ink: Tim Holtz Dsitress Ink  "Black Soot"
Brad: Making Memories
Pop-dots
Ribbon and Flower are stuff I had laying around my space that worked with my theme.....and we do not have them in the store.  All the other items above are either available in the store or can be ordered in.

Pretty basic concept, patterned paper, layers and pop-dots!

Happy Anniversary

THEY ARE HERE......This is a BEAUTIFUL folder from the new collection "Love's in the Air" by Provo Craft.  It is too pretty to cover up.

Materials:
     Paper: WorldWin cardstock
Cuttlebug "Love's in the Air" collection
Nestabilities: Fancy Labels
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Inks" Peeled Paint" and "Black Soot"
Bling: Kaiser Craft
Ribbon: Basic Grey Ribbon Collection
Just Rite stamps: I used the 15 point font to spell out the words

Once I embossed the paper in the folder, I used a piece of Cut-N-Dry foam to rub a little ink onto the raised image to give it a bit more definition.  A simple saying across the middle with some ribbon and bling tops it off.

Vintage Apple card

Back to cards again....I was working with the My Mind's Eye leftovers and had a little fun with some new stamps and vintage ribbon from Melissa Frances!

Materials:
     Paper: My Mind's Eye
     WorldWin and Paper Cut cardstock
Ribbon: Melissa Frances ribbon set
Bling: HERO aRTS
Brad:
Glossy Accents
Stamp: Shabby Green Door
Pop-dots
CUTTLEBUG "Flower" die

I made the flower in the middle of this card with an old pattern...yes really....those old Butterick patterns my mom used to make my dresses out of!!  I just used a CUTTLEBUG flower die to cut the flowers out, held together with a brad and then crunched a little my my fingers.  Simple vintage flower.  I also made the swirl design in the bling with a line of bling....if you can't find a design you like, then make one!  I also used the Glossy Accents to make the little apples pop a little.

Seagulls

Vacation photos!  Ok, this vacation was last summer, but I am getting some caught up finally.

Materials:
     Paper: Sugartree
      WorldWin cardstock
Tag: My Mind's Eye
Brads: Making memories
Pop-Dots

This paper is beautiful all by itself, so I didn't want to cover too much of it.  A few simple well placed photos give a view of the background sheet and the view I had at the shore.  I journaled on the My Minds Eye tag with the use of my printer.

2009 Track Season

Another page for the books.

Materials:
Paper: My Mind's Eye "Meadow Lark"
     Sport's & More
PAZZLES custom die cut
Tickets
Brads

Pretty simple page.  I have a lot going on in the combo photo so I kept it all very simple with the clocks in the background and simple embellishments.  The custom Die cuts we create at the store are the perfect addition to a page.  I used the month tickets to mark out which months my son spends running track.

4X100 Relay

Materials:
     Paper: Basic Grey "Origins: Henna"
     Teresa Collins
     WorldWin cardstock
PAZZLES die cutting
Karen Foster "Track" little license plates
Brad: My Mind's Eye "Abbey Road"

I have this fabulous new camera that takes great multiple shots in a sports mode.....perfect for my kids.  So, since I can actually take a ton of shots of the same thing and pick the best ones, I end up with all these "extra" photos that can be printed.  I decided to print out 10 of the better shots in sequence of the relay pass between my son and my "other son"....inside joke...in the wallet size.  The wallet size gives me plenty of room to get all those shots together on one page and shows the passing of the baton.

SOOOOOO, since I had all these photos and all that action, I wanted to keep the background VERY simple.  This grid pattern in the Basic Grey paper was the perfect choice.  I used a simple plan of 1", 2" and 3" strips and arranged them on a black background sheet.  By adding the title in black and a few well placed embellishments, my photos are still the focus.

1600 Track

Materials:
Paper: Basic Grey "Origins: Sugar Pea"
     Bo-Bunny
Die Cut
Brads: Making Memories
NESTABILITIES "Star"

Track, track and more track....that is what my kids do!  My youngest is a distance runner like my older child, so you will see many many pages with running as a theme....if you didn't notice this about me already.  Not to worry, I get to the occasional card too....lol!

Back to the layout.   Since there was a lot of great color and detail in the background paper I just wanted a little extra to bring all the elements together.  My black edge is actually a piece torn from an old scrapbook.  I liked the edge on it and plopped it down on the page and looked good with the lettering already on the page.  The "TRACK" die cut is one of the created die cuts that are available at Picture This...in several different colors if you need something to match your school uniforms or whatever.  The 1600 is also cut using the PAZZLES.  We can cut almost anything with the PAZZLES, just figure out what you need and we can cut it for you.  I cut the star out with my collection of NESTABILITIES dies.

I had a little pile of leftovers to work with after creating a bunch of layouts on our little outing to the Green Haven Retreat this week.  Three days of crafting bliss.  You will be seeing the layouts over the next few days....and you'll see where the paper came from!  I just love the double sided papers, the ability to coordinate is so easy.  With all the little bits left over from the pages I just kept adding more to the inside of the card.

Fab 5 Day 4

Materials:
Paper: My Mind's Eye "Pretty Please" line
BAZZILL cardstock
String
Tim Holtz Sizzix Die
Brad: Making Memories
Tim Holtz Journaling Tickets and Adage Tags
Pop-Dots

I used the new Tim Holtz Die as a focal piece for this card.  A little ink on the sides of all the patterned pieces and a little ink on the top layer of the die cut add a little depth to the plain cardstock.  I created the envelope style card with a little trial and error.  This was a lot of fun to try.

FAB 5 Day 3

Day three brings ....more MY MIND'S EYE!  Did we mention we are being featured on the My Mind's Eye blog this month???

Materials:
     Paper: My Mind's Eye
     World Win cardstock
Prima Paper flowers
Ink: Staz-on white
Bling: Kaiser Craft
Acetate
NESTABILITES: Inverted Circles
Distresser tool
Stamp: JUST RITEs

I decided to go with a simple design for day 3.  The inverted circle from NESTABILITES is a great way to make the inner scallop for a fun design on a card.  This one has three layers of scallops.

FAB 5 Day 2

DAY TWO brings us another My Mind's Eye paper: from the Penny Lane "Pure Joy" collection.

Materials:
Paper: My Mind's Eye "Penny Lane Pure joy"
      WorldWin cardstock
NESTABILITIES: Fancy Label, Circle and Large Scallop Circle
Punch: Martha Stewart
Stamp: JUST RITE
INK: Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Peeled Paint" and "Shabby Shutters"
Bling: HERO ARTS
Ribbon: Twill Creative Imaginations
Piercer tool
Pop-dots

Lots of layers on this one.  You get a lot of use out of a sheet of double sided paper....and My Mind's Eye has a LOT of double sided paper!   The purple paper here is from the backside of the floral paper.  You don't even have to think about coordinating!!  I used the purple paper to create the background scallop for the foreground circle and then filled in the circle with my stamp and some inks.  The piercer tool from Making Memories worked wonderfully to put the little tiny holes in the card to create the illusion of the butterfly flying.

FAB 5 Day 1

The FAB 5 team is at it again with 5 Products in 5 days from 5 designers!  By the time we are done with all the fun you will have 25 ideas to get your creative mojo working.

Materials:
Paper: My Mind's Eye "LUSH" line
     WorldWin cardstock
     Paper Cut cardstock
Stamp: JUST RITE
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Fired Brick" and "Victorian Velvet"
Bling: Kaiser Craft
Ribbon
NESTABILITIES: Labels 5
Pop-dots

I have loved this paper line since My Mind's Eye came out with it....and I have used plenty in the past few weeks!!  I made this elegant birthday card with a different shape which I freehand cut.  I placed the ribbon behind the patterned paper layer and on top of the card base layer to cover it up and secure it's place.  I had a small piece of ribbon left so I tucked it up under the sentiment with a bit of a ruffle to it for some added fun.  I can see giving this card to Grandma.

THE FAB 5 are at it again....

The old is new again

Layers and layers and layers.

Materials:
Paper: My Mind's Eye "Penny Lane: Tiny Dancer; Plie and Jazz"
                WorldWin cardstock
Stamp: Just Rite
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Worn Lipstick
Buttons: Basic Grey
Corner Punch
CUTTLEBUG: "Flower #1" and "Astericks"
NESTABILITIES Standard Circles

So I went really deep into my stash of Cuttlebug tools.  The flower and the little tiny leaves are from sets from WAY WAY back.  As always, an investment in tools in never a bad investment, they never get old or out of style.  I followed a card sketch from the internet and went from there with my papers and embellishments.

A laugh is a smile that bursts

I had this great photo of my little niece that I wanted to do a page with and the My Mind's Eye line is always a "go-to" product I love.

Materials:
Paper: My Mind's Eye: Penny Pane "Tiny Dancer; Plie" and "Feeling Groovy; Uniquely You"
     WorldWin cardstock
Gems: Kaiser Craft, HERO ARTS and Prima
Punch: Retro Flower
CUTTLEBUG "Concentric Circle"
Stamp: HERO ARTS zig zag
             JUST RITE
Buttons: Basic Grey
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Fired Brick", "Broken China" and "Spun Sugar"

So many pages I see online and in the magazines today are including a zig-zag stitch or just stitching in general, but since I am sewing machine challenged....well, this is my answer to this problem.  Once I had my flowers and other goodies laid out I used the zig zag stamp to create my "Stitching".   This is an OLD OLD stamp set but there are a ton of new ones with the stitching out there.  I hand cut the teal frame and just laid out everything else out with the photo.

Get well soon...

I have been working with the fabulous papers from My Mind's Eye this month.  These are the fun papers from The Bloom & Grow line.

Materials:
     Paper: WorldWin cardstock
My Mind's Eye "Bloom & Grow" patterned papers
Stamps: Just Rite
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Black Soot"
Bling: Kaiser Craft
Pop-Dots

A simple design with all the panels pop dotted to add a little dimension.  I even popped the hand cut flower before adding the little jewel to the middle of it.  the design would work great with a ton of different patterned papers and any theme.

The greatest of these...is LOVE

I see a theme here!  I guess this paper really speaks wedding to me.  The paper is so rich with the velvet flocking.  I can't resist!

Materials:
Paper: My Mind's Eye "LUSH" line
     WorldWin and Paper Cut cardstock
Ribbon
NESTABILITIES "Standard Circle" and "Classic Scalloped Circle"
Stamps: Just Rite
Pop-Dots

Super simple and elegant.  This would make a wonderful Mother's Day card too.  I pop-dotted the center circle with the 1/8" pop-dots.  The satin printed ribbon is a perfect accent for the black velvet.

Happiness

Playing with leftovers from the Wedding card kit project.  I think these papers are so beautiful!!  You have just got to feel them.

Materials:
Paper: WorldWin and Paper Cut cardstock
     My Mind's Eye patterned paper
Punch: Martha Stewart
Stamp: Just Rite
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Black Soot"
Pearls: Kaiser craft
Ribbon
Pop-Dots

I had some small pieces of the velvet paper to use up and I could not resist making a wedding or anniversary card.  You really have to feel the velvet paper. So cool!
