Margarita ME!

A new reason to use my MARGARITA stamps.
I found the instructions for this WIPER card here and decided I had the perfect stamps for a fun card...just my style!

Materials:
     Paper: My Mind's Eye
     WorldWin cardstock
NESTABILITIES: Standard Circle and  Blossom 2
Cuttlebug: Pop Culture border set and "Best Friends" set
stamps: A*Muse and Rosie's Roadshow
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink: "Shabby Shutters" and "Black Soot"

This took a little effort to get it to all come together, but the results are worth it.  I think I might even go back and add a little "salt" to the rims with my Rock Candy Stickles and some bling, but for now, it is a road ready card if the need should arise.  The main part of the card is easy to do, the little pop-up was the challenge for this one.  That and getting it all to line up when it was folded again.  Boy, there is a reason we do the simple 1/4 cut card!! I suppose once I get the hang of it they will be a breeze....I have another idea for a set of birthday stamps I have from Just Rite too.....

Anyway, check out the YOUTUBE video of the instructions to see how the whole thing gets put together and give it a try....it's not so hard.

The color for the glasses was achieved by rubbing a little ink on it with my sponge, sort of a smudgy look as apposed to coloring them in.  The little sunray point behind each glass is achieved by using the
Blossom 2 set, but the Inverted Circle would do the same job...or even some of the new NESTABILITIES sets we just got it....did I mention I got a new NESTIE toy yesterday :)
The "banner" that the "when life gives you limes..." is stamped on is hand cut.

Ok, off to get crafty.

NEW toys!!!

I love getting new toys to play with....and the NESTABILITES die that I have been W A I T I N G  for has finally arrived!!  The Jumbo Scalloped Border Petite is finally mine.

Materials:
     Paper WorldWin Double Mates
     My Mind's Eye
NESTABILITIES: Jumbo Scalloped Border Petite, Labels 5 and Standard Circle
Punch: Martha Stewart
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink; "Fired Brick" and "Tattered Rose"
Stamps: JustRite "Custom Cardmaking set" and Stampers Anonymous "Urban Tapestry"
Tonic Distress Tool

I was having a hard time finding a ribbon in my stash to match this paper so the idea of the filled holes was a bust, so I just glued the cutouts back into the paper.  I distressed the circles and the patterned paper to reveal the white core and cut out some cute butterflies to go on the circles.  I love how the big scallop works for a card edge.  I can't wait to do more! This set comes with a big two sided scallop and an edge. It doesn't look like much in the package but it makes such cool shapes.

Happy Birthday

Another attempt at a different card fold....the simple tri-fold, with a twist.
I used a 5 1/2"X12 piece of Coco brown cardstock and folded it at 3 1/2" and 9 inches instead of three folds of equal thirds Above is the inside of the card with a little more embossing and decorative papers.
Hopefully his shot gives you an idea of the folding.  The front of the card folds just under the bottom flap
with the "Happy Birthday" stamped on it.

Materials:
     Paper: Coco (Paper Cut)
     My Mind's Eye "Quite Contrary:
Stamp: Inkadinkadoo Mini's
Brads: Making Memories
Ribbon: Creative Imaginations
Cuttlebug: "Holly Ribbons" and "Candycane Stripe"
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Walnut Stain"

I am hoping the photos above will give you the idea of how this card goes together.  I like giving something different a try.

Tag you are it!

I made this tag to hang under the "Book Club" sign for the Altered Book Club (or ABC) that meets at the Picture This every second and fourth Tuesday of each month to create, chat and learn about the Altered book craft.  You should see some of the awesome things the ladies are working on!  Check it out the next time they get together.  March 9th should be the next date they get together!

Materials:
 Tag
Computer font
Ink"Tim Holtz Distress Ink: "Vintage Photo"
Rock Candy Crackle
Walnut stain

I printed the words on the tags with my printer....I know, cheating....but I like this font for the words....anyway, spritz with water and wrinkle up the tag, rub the ink over the top and you get the nice highlighted cracks and wrinkles on the tag.  The butterflies are punched from the bookcover I used a couple days ago...leftovers never go to waste at my house......and I crackled them and inked them up.  A very simple tag, but I needed the words to be clear to read and the tag is only about 2x3".

Have fun, get inky....create!

Rich jewel tones

Playing with leftovers again.  I had some pieces of ribbon and this patterned paper from the last page kit I put together, and I just had to
see what else
I could do
with the materials.

The card looks kinda Christmasy, but it is only the colors.  I like the rich jewel colors with the thick ribbon.
Materials:

Paper: WorldWin cardstock
     Scenic Route patterned paper
     CORE'dinations
Ribbon: Creative Imaginations
Punch: Martha Stewart
NESTABLILITES: "Standard Circle" and "Blossom 2"
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink: "Fired Brick" and "Frayed Burlap"
Button: from old clothing
Stamp: Just Rite "Custom Cardmaking Kit"
CUTTLEBUG: "Herringbone" folder

I used a couple tones of red since there are two shades in the patterned paper.  The simple design of the Herringbone folder for texture goes nicely with the stripes in the ribbon.  I trimmed the ribbon chunk to about 3 inches and snipped a small curve from both of the ends.  I gather together the middle, sewed on the button and then used Super Tacky Tape to glue it to the card front.  I tucked the twigs under the button and then adhered the sentiment with one end tucked just under the ribbon combo.  With the additional leftover pieces I decorated the inside of the card.

Altered Books

Ok, not actually an altered book, but it is an altered book jacket.
This old book jacket was on the cover of the book I intend to use for the Altered Book Club project.... Altered Book Club? YUP, every other Tuesday we have a group of adventurous souls giving the altered book thing a try.
I mention this today because the Alter Divas of "ABC"  are meeting today at Picture This from 10-1:30.  The meet every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month....wanna give it a try??

Materials:
Stamps: Stampers Anonymous:
         "School Desk"
         "Ultimate Grunge"
          "Letters to Santa"
          "Urban Tapestry"
Punch: Butterfly "Martha Stewart"
Rock Candy Crackle
Matte Medium

Ink: Tim Holtz Distress: Black Soot, Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain and Fired Brick
Photos printed from internet using WorldWin cardstock.

I used a piece of chipboard to make my "book jacket" stiff.  This was a ton of fun.  Just let loose and put stuff all over.  I stamped and stamped again and then..stamped some more.  Then I rubbed stuff on and rubbed stuff off....just playing, that's it.  Play play play.

With Sympathy

A simple sympathy card

I love this paper from Basic Grey, so pretty and so easy to let the paper work for you.

Materials:
Paper: World Win cardstock and Basic Grey
Flowers: Prima (jars)
Gems: Kaiser Craft
Stamp: Impression Obsession
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress "Fired Brick"

I just stamped the words on the paper and sprinkled a few flowers around the bird cages for a simple yet very pretty sympathy card.

Big Birthday Card

The new paper line from My Mind's Eye has some great colors in it.  I love how everything goes together so easy....I hardly have to think at all!  Ok, maybe a little bit.

Materials:
     Paper: WorldWin Cardstock
My Mind's Eye "Quite Contrary" line: Little Man
Tag: My Mind's Eye
Ribbon: May Arts
Cuttlebug: "Pop Culture" border set
Stamp: Just Rite "Custom Cardmaking Set"
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink: "Walnut Stain"

The tag with the trees on it was the thing that drew me to this paper line.  The tag is large, about 3X6, so I had to go with a larger card to accommodate the large tag.  Simple solution, the 5x7 (or A6) size.  Of course, we crafters can make any size work....right?  Why stick with the same old size all the time??  So, with that being decided, I still had a little problem of the white space on the tag being to big...meaning, I had a lot of space to fill with my little stamp.  Solution there is to cover the large empty area above the stamp with a decorative bit of something....in this case, a bit of leftover green and a chunk of ribbon.  Flowers would work here too, but since this is for my Dad, I figured he would appreciate the more manly approach.  With a little strip of the dot paper left from a mistake (no, not a mistake!!) I used it to decorate the front of the envelope...problem solved.   After all, there are NO mistakes in crafting, just new opportunities for a little creative freedom.

Graphic45 and LOVE

You know I LOVE Graphic45....and CUTTLEBUG...and JUST Rite.....so why not combine them all?

Materials:
     Paper: Graphic45
                WorldWin Coco
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Black Soot" and "Vintage Photo"
Embossing Powder
Ribbon: Basic Grey Ribbon collection
Stamp: Just Rite "Loving Thoughts" set
Cuttlebug "Wedding" set
Nestabilites: Long Rectangle and Long Rectangle Scallop

My buddy Amber tried a different card cut and I thought, yup, I can try that. We get so used to doing the traditional rectangle A2 size card.  This card is a A2, but with a little bit cut out of the front.  This is fun for showing a little of the inside of the card where I had used the backside of the patterned paper.  I simply cut down 1 1/2" from the inside fold (the front) and cut it away.  I layered my papers on the front (with ribbon attached first) and the inside.  Stamped my words and then embossed.  I adhered the Nestabilites/Cuttlebugged rectangle to the right side of the card so that the top stuck up over the top of the cut-away.  You could put a secret saying on the back behind the embossed piece for an additional fun feature.  So much fun to try.

FAB FIVE day 5

Last day of the FAB 5 projects....but not to stress....we will be doing this again soon....we are working on the next assignment already!

Materials:
Paper: CORE'dinations "Vintage Collection" and "Chocolate Box" collection
Brads: Making MEmories
Stamp: Stampers Anonymous "Letters to Santa"
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Black Soot" and "Vintage Photo"
Cuttlebug Folder "Victoria"
NESTABLILITES border set

Small vintage photo is downloaded from the internet and printed on cardstock.

To create this card I used a 12x5 1/2" piece of the Vintage brown paper from CORE'dinations.  I folded the paper at 4 1/4" and 8 1/2" and the end piece I used a border set from Nestabilities to cut the fancy swish.  I also did the same to the CORE'dinations piece.  I attached the stamped piece to the what ends up being the front of the card..but before folding it.  After cutting the end of the card I folded it up so that it created a pocket on the front of the card, mounted the CORE'dinations piece (after I embossed and sanded it) and put the brads through to hold it together.  I can tuck a little something into the front or leave it.

I hope you enjoyed the first FAB 5 projects.

FAB FIVE day 4

Today we are working with BASIC GREY papers again.  This pretty rose paper was fun to work with and has many possibilities....wedding, anniversary, birthday, Mother's Day...you name it!

Materials:
     Paper: WorldWin cardstock
     Basic Grey
Nestabilities: Labels 5
Cuttlebug: "Just My Type" border set
Punch: EK Success "Book Binding"
Ribbon: A*Muse
Stamp: Just Rite "Custom Cardmaking Kit"
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Black Soot"

Hard to tell from the photo, but the inside of this card overhangs the top part by about an inch, so you can seethe inside and outside...which is why I put more patterned paper on the inside.  I just cut the ends with my trimmer (tried something different ya know)...and I like it.

FAB FIVE day 3

Today we had our hands on a piece from TINKERING INK.  This is another double sided paper with really rich deep blues.

Materials:
Paper: WorldWin cardstock, Paper Cut cardstock, Tinkering Ink
Nestabilities: Standard Circle and Labels 8
Punch: Martha Stewart
Blink: Kaiser Craft
Glimmer Mist
Stamp: Just Right
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink" Faded Jeans"
Cuttlebug folder "Herringbone"

I might have gone a little overboard with the Glimmer Mist this time...I think I obliterated the words on my half circle....oh well....shine on right?  I spelled out Happy Birthday to You with my Just Rite stampers for the half circle sentiment.  The medallions in the middle of the larger label and the half circle are cut from the reverse side of the patterned paper.

FAB FIVE day 2

Day two brings us a paper from WEBSTERS PAGES.

Materials:
     Paper: WorldWin and Websters Pages
Brads: Making Memories
Ribbon: Creative Imaginations
Nestabilities: Stand Circle, Classic Scalloped Circle
Pop-Dots
Cuttlebug folder: Victoria
Stamps: Just Rite "Custom Cardmaking Kit"
Ink: Judith "Black"

Since this paper is double sided I used the reverse side (which happens to be blue and lined) on the inside of the card.  Makes for easy writing that way.  I attached the patterned paper to the front of the card, put a small strip of embossed pink across the middle, attached with brads, and then took the ribbon and placed it in the center of that.  To that, I attached the stamped circles.

FAB FIVE day 1

Welcome to our first FAB 5 blog hop.

We hope you enjoy the week of ideas we will be sharing with you.  Links to the other girl's blogs will be at the bottom of my post each day, so start here every morning.

ENJOY!
Our first paper is from Basic Grey.

Materials:
     Paper: WorldWin and Basic Grey
Ribbon: Twill
Photo Corner: Kimberly Polson
Stamp: Impression Obsession
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink: "Walnut Stain"
NESTABILITIES: Ribbon Tag

Pretty simple concept.  I liked the soft colors of the background paper and didn't want to hide them, so I kept it simple with a swath of twill, with one end threaded through the ribbon tag loop and frayed a bit.  On the other end I cut off the loop and added the photo corner.

Happy Valentines Day to my Hubby

A day early, but I have to get it posted so I can give it to him.

Materials:
     Paper: My Mind's Eye
     CORE'dinations
Stamps: Just Rite "Loving Sentiments"
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Inks "Black Soot"
Brads: Making Memories
Nestabilities: Standard Circle and Inverted Circle

Kinda simple card with some fun features.  I went with the square card (since I am handing it over and not mailing it) and a little overlap look with the front of the card cut a little shorter and the circle overhanging the end a bit.  Hard to tell in the photo.  I will write my loving note on the inside circle.

Stay tuned to this blog for a fun upcoming feature starting Monday!!

Make & Take Thursday's

This past Thursday was Make & Take Thursday....something we have been doing for a month now....and this is the card we created.

Materials:
Paper: WorldWin DoubleMates (inside is a darker shade of the outside color)
               Daisy D's paper (pattern)
                CORE'dinations (for the scallop circle)
Ribbon: May Arts
NESTABILITES: Standard Circle and Scallop Circle
STAMP: Just Rite! "Loving Sentiments" set
CUTTLEBUG: "Organic Flourish" borders and "Journaling Card" folder (see above photo)

This card was a bit tricky.  First you fold your card, open it back up and emboss the front half with the "journaling card" folder.  Then you take the borders, place the top one in as far as it will go and line it up with the lines embossed from the first folder.  It will smoosh them, but it still looks cool.  Then bring in the smaller one up the inside of the fold, again following the lines.  Put this on your A/B plate, cover with the other B plate and run through.  They will both fit at the same time....give it a try if you haven't.  JUST DON'T OVERLAP them.  Now just add your pretty papers and embellishments to the card.  I think the next thing I try with the journaling card is to stamp images inside the spaces.  Lots of great possibilities with this folder.

The greatest of these...

My photo is a little overexposed here....it is either too sunny or too cloudy for photo taking in my house...no in between at all!

Materials:
Paper: Scenic Route, World Win, CORE'dinations
Ribbon: Creative imaginations
Stamps: Stampers Anonymous and Just Rite "Loving Thoughts" set
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Inks: "Walnut Stain" and "Vintage Photo"
Punch: FISKARS
CUTTLEBUG: Script Texture folder

The CORE of CORE'dinations is great for making a simple background stand out.  This paper from the BLACK MAGIC line has black on one side and a color on the other.  Sanding the raised image brings the other color out.  You can get the full line at PICTURE THIS in Eau Claire.....that and a few other pretty collections from the CORE'dinations line as well.  Picture This is a CORE store for CORE'dinations.

COMING SOON.......

I had some hands on with the newest Cuttlebug folders that should be arriving at the store in the near future.

Materials:
     Paper: WorldWin
        Basic Grey
Ribbon: May Arts
Bling: Kaiser Craft and HERO ARTS
Glimmer Mist
CUTTLEBug folder "Chandelier"

I really wanted to get my stamp on here before posting, but I don't have it here....that will have to wait.  But, you have the card to look at in the meantime.  Simple layers with the Glimmer Mist added to the green chandelier embossed piece only.  It brings out a nice shine that is hard to see in the photos.

JUST RITE!

You know I am loving my JUST RITE stampers sets....they are JUST RIGHT!
I love being able to spell out whatever I need, but they have awesome sayings too, so I can pick from a wide array of great images and sentiments....my collection is getting rather large.

Materials:
Paper: SEI Playday Line: "Tag" and Playday"
     WorldWin cardstock
Stamp: JUST RITE 3 1/4" Friendship Set
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress "Black Soot" and "Scattered Straw"
Makers
Ribbon: Offray
Pop-Dots
Bling: Kaiser Craft
NESTABILITIES: Standard Circle Large

Well, I can't buy a new stamp set and NOT use it RIGHT AWAY!...So, I ripped open my new stamper and stamps and got busy.  Which to chose, which to chose.....that is always the hard part with a new set. I found this one that gives a friend a much needed boost.  I stamped my images on the paper first and then went back and cut them out with my NESTIES set.  I use removable tape to keep the dies in place while they run through my CUTTLEBUG.  Once through, I used the pop-dots to prop up the outside ring and attached it to the bottom floral image.  The two circles are the same size, with the sentiment one being cut with the inner circle and outer circle at the same time.  I embossed only the upper circle because you don't see the edge of the lower circle.

The LOVE BUG

I had this little leftover piece with the "Love Bug" printed on it and I thought it would  make a cute Valentine card.

Materials:
     Paper: Cosmo Cricket
      CORE'dinations
      WorldWin
Ribbon: May Arts
Punch: Fiskars "effervescence"
Gelly Roll pen Clear Star
Cuttlebug "Birds and Swirls"

I thought the colors in this one were going to be hard to match, but I think I got a nice combo here with the Chocolate Box CORE'dinations and the other papers. Simple layers with one addition of the sparkle to the wings with my Glitter pen.  Another "use it up" project.

Flakey Friends

I'm back...with my FLAKEy Snowman friend.

Materials:
     Paper: WorldWin cardstock
                Basic Grey Marrakech line
Stamps: Just Rite and A*Muse
Nestabilities: Circle and Square
Brads: Spare Parts
Ribbon: May Arts
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Inks: "Black Soot" and "Broken China"

Since I can spell out any word with my Just Rite stamps, I made the perfect stamp to fit my little Hippy Snowperson.  A fun winter card to cheer up a friend.
